FRUITS

In botany, a fruit is the structure that develops from an ovary after flowering and contains the seeds of a flowering plant.

Flowering plants, usually referred to as angiosperms, disperse their seeds through fruits. In particular, edible fruits have long been spread by the movements of people and animals in a symbiotic connection that serves as a mechanism for one group to disperse seeds and a source of sustenance for the other. In fact, both people and many animals have grown to rely on fruits as a source of food. Fruits thus make up a considerable portion of the global agricultural output, and some of them, like the apple and the pomegranate, have deep cultural and symbolic significance.

Fruit is often defined as the fleshy structures (or produce) that are connected to seeds and are typically sweet or sour and edible when they are still in their raw form. Examples of such produce include apples, bananas, grapes, lemons, oranges, and strawberries. Nuts, bean pods, corn kernels, tomatoes, and wheat grains are just a few examples of the structures that are included under the term “fruit” in botanical terminology but are not typically referred to as such in ordinary speech.
