POULTRY

Poultry farming is the activity of breeding poultry. Poultry are domesticated birds or animals kept by humans for the goal of collecting valuable animal products such as meat, eggs, or feathers. The superorder Galloanserae (fowl), particularly the order Galliformes (which contains chickens, quails, and turkeys), is usually where these birds belong. The phrase covers wild birds that are hunted for food and are referred to as game or quarry, but it does not cover waterfowl of the family Anatidae (ducks and geese) or other flying birds that are raised and killed for their flesh, such as the young pigeons (known as squabs).
